Wright Communications is committed to a triple-bottom line approach to sustainability. Some of our sustainability initiatives include:
Environment
- Getting to work:
- Our consultants use public transport (bus and train), walk or car pool to get to work each day.
- Visiting clients:
- We use our low-emissions Smart Car when travelling to client meetings and the onboard Navman helps ensure we take the quickest route to get there, on the smallest amount of fossil fuel.
- Video-conferencing
- When appropriate, we use our video-conferencing system for trans-Tasman business meetings and for work-in-progress meetings with our Wellington-based clients.
- Office equipment:
- Switching our computer monitors and other office equipment to stand-by mode when not in use helps to cut down our power consumption.
- Our printing machines are ENERGY STAR certified and have several features such as duplex printing and draft printing modes that help our team conserve ink and paper.
- Office furniture:
- We choose Herman Miller furnishings including Aeron chairs and Abak desk systems. The Aeron adapts naturally to virtually every body, is made from almost two-thirds recycled material and almost the entire chair-94 per cent-is recyclable. Certified to MBDC Cradle to Cradle Silver, Aeron is GREENGUARD certified and can contribute to LEED certification. Our Abak desk systems are 60 per cent recyclable, manufactured using 43 per cent recycled content and are also GREENGUARD certified.
- Recycling:
- We recycle newspapers, office documents, used toner cartridges, mobile phones, glass and plastics.
Society / Culture
- Professional training:
- Wright Communications covers the cost of annual membership and event fees for all consultants to join and participate in the PR industry’s professional development organisation - Public Relations Institute of New Zealand (PRINZ). All Wright Communications’ consultants abide by the PRINZ Code of Ethics.
- Network organisations:
- We are active members of the Sustainable Business Network and New Zealand Business Council for Sustainable Development.
Economy
- Wright Communications appointed an independent director from day one to ensure good governance and prudent financial management of the consultancy.
- Pro bono work:
- Wright Communications provides pro bono public relations services to the Sustainable Business Network.
