Achieving best-practice CR for Ricoh
It has never been more important to demonstrate credible corporate responsibility, and the key for Ricoh is transparent triple-bottom-line reporting.

The brief
As a leading supplier of document solutions, including
photocopiers and printers, Ricoh faced the ongoing challenge of
reporting to the market and customers, which includes government
departments and educational institutions as well as corporates, its
economic, environmental and social performance.
The Wright solution
Wright Communications assisted Ricoh in developing annual
Sustainability reports consistent with Global Reporting Initiatives
(GRI) guidelines, and also worked closely with its client on an
annual inventory report. Realising that sustainability has to
travel from the grassroots up, Wright Communications helped
establish a Sustainability Committee to empower staff right across
Ricoh New Zealand to come up with innovative thinking to improve
the firm's performance in these areas.
Client satisfaction
In the last 12 months Ricoh has achieved its toughest
environmental challenge yet - carboNZeroCERT
certification. What made this certification even more
significant was the bold decision to measure and offset the energy
emissions associated with their customers' use of energy-efficient
Ricoh machines - a voluntary move that assists customers in
reducing their own carbon footprint.

Studies
Moving in synch with our global philosophy, Ricoh New Zealand has placed sustainability at the centre of its business. Wright Communications, as a Corporate Responsibility specialist, helped clarify our direction and positioning. Critically, they were able to understand the nature of the sales market we operate in, inject sustainability best practice and successfully communicate with staff, customers and other stakeholders. They have also expanded and enhanced Ricoh New Zealand’s initiatives in this area. Most recently they have facilitated the process of certifying our entire operations, including our customers’ use of our machines, as carbon neutral.
